About the Job
We are looking for a Senior DevOps & Systems Engineer to join the Infrastructure team of a leading UK Q-commerce platform.

The role combines modern DevOps with strong, hands-on Linux Systems Administration. We are specifically looking for someone who has real production systems experience and is comfortable troubleshooting infrastructure issues at both the cloud and operating-system level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, monitor and improve AWS infrastructure and Linux production environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues across Linux, networking and applications.
  • Maintain and optimise Nginx, Redis and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Manage configuration and automation using Ansible.
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines.
  • Write and manage WAF rules across Akamai and Cloudflare.
  • Work with CDN and networking technologies.
  • Monitor infrastructure using tools such as Zabbix, CloudWatch, Pingdom and New Relic.
  • Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
  • Automate repetitive operational tasks using Python and Bash.
  • Participate in the on-call rota after completing onboarding.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Strong hands-on Linux Systems Administration experience in business-critical production environments.
  • Strong AWS infrastructure and networking experience.
  • Solid experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with Ansible and configuration management.
  • Strong CI/CD experience.
  • Good Python and Bash scripting skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Nginx, Redis and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
  • Experience with CDN and WAF technologies.
  • Strong production troubleshooting and incident management experience.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of production issues from investigation through to resolution.
  • Able to work closely with Software Engineers and other technical teams.

Important:
This is not purely a cloud/DevOps role. Strong Linux Systems Administration experience in a production environment is a key requirement. Candidates whose Linux experience is limited to basic administration or simply listed as a technical skill may not be suitable.

What We Offer:
  • Fully remote UK-based role.
  • Monday to Friday working.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Opportunity to work on a large-scale Q-commerce platform.
  • Meaningful infrastructure and reliability challenges.
  • Flexible working environment.
  • Learning and career development opportunities.

If you have strong Linux systems administration experience combined with AWS and modern DevOps expertise, we would be interested in hearing from you.
